Gary Sanchez is a professional baseball catcher from the Dominican Republic who plays for the Baltimore Orioles. He has had stints in teams such as the­ New York Yankees, Minne­sota Twins, and New York Mets. Sanchez, before making his MLB debut on October 3, 2015, for the Ne­w York Yankees, played in the minor leagues. After signing as an international free agent in 2009 with the Yankees, he played for teams like the Staten Island Yankees, Charleston RiverDogs, Tampa Yankees, and Trenton Thunder, among others. Following his seven-year stint with the Yankees, Sanchez was traded to the Minnesota Twins in 2022. After a season, he signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants in March 2023 and the New York Mets in May 2023. Later that month, the Padres claimed him off waivers before he moved to the Milwaukee Brewers on a $3 million contract after eight months.

As of Feb 2025, he has participated in the All-Star games twice–in 2019 and 2020. Moreover, in 2017, he won the Silver Slugger Award and became the­ fastest catcher to reach 100 home­ runs.

"Even before my daughter was born, I was in the process of becoming a more mature player," Sánchez continued. "Once she was born, it was kind of like a switch went off. I saw the opportunity in front of me. I just decided, whatever I need to do and whatever it takes to get to the big leagues, let's get it done now."
